Our EP14 roundtable named the real cost of switching AI models

On EP14 of Brew Bytes, Tony Evans, Wade Eagar and Nigel Hammersley were asked which frontier model is ahead. One panellist's answer was that "being able to move between the models is probably more important than just who's going to get it right," and that the hard part of moving is everything you have already taught one tool about your business.
What it actually means
The spend figures in today's lead show companies moving between labs through code, but this panel described what the move costs for someone working in the chat window. Months of context built up in one assistant does not travel, so the panellist who wanted OpenAI's new features had to ask Claude for a summary of everything it knew and then correct the new tool's output until it matched. The fix is to keep that knowledge in a document you own, a written brief on the business and its house style, and load it into whichever model you are testing, which turns a switch from a retraining job into an afternoon's test.
Being able to move between models matters more than picking the winner.
