Meta opened its Muse AI agent to outside developers this week

Meta's personal AI agent, Muse, launched worldwide in early September and spent Connect 2026 (21st to 24th Sep'26) adding an avatar, smart glasses integration and its own email address. The bigger move for builders came quietly: Meta opened Muse's connector platform to outside developers and had over 1,500 applications within a week, including Stripe, Shopify, GitHub and Notion, alongside retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy. Muse is free for users, and Meta plans to take a small fee from the transactions it completes on their behalf.
What it actually means
The glasses and the avatar are the part everyone is covering this week. The connector platform is the part that matters if you build things: a route into Meta's own reach now exists, and more than a thousand companies have already applied to use it. The trade is the one you make with any platform: reach for Meta, in return for the relationship and the fee. Decide what you would lose if the terms changed next year, because OpenAI's Presence and Google's managed agents show every lab is now selling the install, not just the model.
The connector platform was the real launch this week. The glasses were the show.
